Middle School Religious Education
2017-2018 CALENDAR - TBA
Holy Spirit offers religious education classes for middle school students in the 7th and 8th grades that are not enrolled in Catholic school. Faith Formation is a life-long journey; in order to properly know our faith, continuous enrollment in Religious Education is expected. Each year, faith topics such as prayer, sacraments, Jesus, morality, saints, and more are reviewed and taught more deeply on a grade-appropriate level.
In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, teens must be enrolled in Religious Education for at least two years in order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation which is received in the 10th grade. If your teen is not enrolled in a Catholic school, participation in the Holy Spirit Religious Education program counts towards this requirement. For more information about the Archdiocese of Atlanta's Confirmation requirements go to https://www.atlyouth.org/confirmation/
Holy Spirit middle school religious education classes incorporate the EDGE curriculum model. Centered on the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church - Creed, sacraments, moral life and prayer - EDGE gives teens a comprehensive introduction to the key teachings of the Catholic faith. It was developed to help teens learn about their Catholic faith in a fun, engaging, and relevant way. Each quarter new materials are created and are shared with subscribing parishes so that topics are always fresh, relevant and timely.
EDGE strengthens teen's Catholic identity, while rooting them firmly in Christ and His Church. Teens learn what it means to be Catholic, sparking a desire to further investigate their faith, and grow in their relationship with God.
